James 'Robbie' RobinsonJim Robinson says:
'I am trying to find information regarding my late father James 'Robbie' Robinson. He served in Bomber Command 1941 to 45 finally ending with a rank of Warrant Officer 'King Class'. He served as a 'Tail-end Charlie' Rear gunner on Short Stirling among others. I believe as Flt. Sgt. I believe the call-sign was 'Q' for Queenie.
I would like any inform re the Squadron Numbers and Bases. I am now live in Canada so it not as easy get the information.
My mother informs me that a member of the flight crew was called John Christie 'she believes'
He may have also flown Wellingtons, Whitley and Hampdens, but it may have only been during training.
He also did a stint in Douglas Isle of Man, in the training school teaching ordinance, this was to the end of the war.
I would like to find this information so that I can get his service and record from the RAF. He is now deceased and all flight logs etc have been mislaid.
Most of the above is from my memory at a lot younger age, so some could wildly wrong. Though I am certain of Short Stirling, Rear Gunner and rank. Most I found when he was building the Airfix Model of the Short Stirling.'
