Fate I part exchanged at Four Cross Garage near Falmouth, Cornwall. Got £350 for it, which I was thrilled at.
Notes This was the crappiest car I have owned to date. I bought it as a cheap runaround from someone near St Austell, Cornwall. I had a look at it and the a panels in front of the door were rotten, but the rest of it looked OK, apart from a couple of pink and purple hippo stickers on the boot. I reluctalntly paid £650 for it as I needed a car again. The brakes were awful the master cylinder was replaced but the near side rear brake would constantly lock up in the wet which caused me to eventually spin off the road and hit a wall near Hayle in Cornwall. this was the second Mini I'd owned and the second one I'd crashed. I'll never buy another old style Mini again - I seem to be cursed. It needed a new front panels and passenger wing replacing plus the rear end needed bashing out. It was repaired for £100. I'll never forget the sight of the chap fixing it trying to repair the back end. The wheel arch lip had been pushed in a bit and he couldn't bash it out, so he lashed a rope under the car and welded a piece of metal to the pushed in wheel lip and used a fork lift truck to try and pull it out. Didn't do too bad, either. I had to spray the new panels on my parent's drive with Halfords cans of paint and the finish wasn't too bad, considering. Soon after (Easter 1998) I traded it in for a Ford Capri. I saw the Mini after I had sold it, out on the roads. Someone had sprayed it yellow with a cyan roof and fitted fancy number plates to it. Bet if they saw how we bodged the thing back together after my crash they wouldn't have touched it... After a while it disappeared. Don't know if it was scrapped. Should have been.
Modifications err, does a new front end count???
Accolades "Tris's Crappiest Car To Date" award - 1998.

Notes Heard about the Drive Archive on Steve Wright in the afternoon on BBC Radio 2 and loved the idea.
