This was an excellent car! I bought it for driving to and from University (Cornwall to Manchester). I was looking for a Vauxhall Astra Belmont at the time - I just loved the shape of them for some reason, but they were still too pricey in 1993. I saw this Cavalier for sale at Barncoose Garage near Redruth, Cornwall up for £1,495. I eventually paid £1,475 for it which was cheap then. Ahh, the power of haggling. It was very reliable and comfortable, though a little gutless on the motorways when fully loaded with every CD I owned. It only ever let me down once, when the electronic module that controls the ignition failed. The RAC got me going again at a cost of £80. At least they didn't try and sell me a battery as well. After finishing University, I was in a very low paying job and eventually decided it was time to sell, as I couldn't afford it as comfortably any more. I sold it for £650. |
| Modifications |
Half decent stereo and Moss burglar alarm. (Well I was in Manchester). I also removed the wheel trims while living there, to make it look less appealing. I also fitted the obligatory 4 driving lamps. |
| Accolades |
My mates called it "Totally Ace, Like" after the letters in the number plate. I just called it Comfy Cav. |
