In 1941 Ken was posted onto Wellingtons at No.11
Operational Training Unit, at Bassingbourn, Cambridgeshire.
To quote from the book:
"...Quite a lot of time was spent flying as a
crew on cross-country exercises. On one such flight, to win a bet I
took us on a slight detour and flew the Wellington under the central
span of the Menai Straits Bridge. My home is now Anglesey, and whenever
I see that bridge I have to shudder at my earlier foolhardy self and
that stupid exploit...
